God created humanity and saw that it was very good. Jesus died for all people. God wants all people to Thank you for your Stewardship of Treasure: live good lives and to be with Him in heaven eternally. February 18/21 & 22, 2015 It is easy to visualize the angels and saints doing God’s will perfectly in heaven. Is it possible that Islamic terrorists are do21/47 Envelopes; 3/9 Loose checks ing God’s will? Most right thinking people would say—no. How do we confront this latest evil? MASS INTENTIONS One possible solution is to kill all of them. God loves them. Jesus died for Mar 2 - 6, 2015 them. Introduction to the Liturgy of the Day Every year on the second Sunday of Lent we hear the story of Jesus' transfiguration from one of the Gospels. With our Lenten journey so briefly under way, we may need the encouragement of what lies ahead that the Transfiguration story gives us. As Jesus was transfigured and ultimately triumphant over death, so may our prayer today be that we too will be transformed. Pastoral Patterns ~ March 1, 2015 ST. Fridays of Lent are also days of abstinence. Fasting is to be observed by all eighteen years of age and older, who have not yet celebrated their sixtieth birthday. On a fast day one full meal is allowed. Two other meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and juices, are allowed. Abstinence is observed by all fourteen years of age and older. On days of abstinence no meat is allowed. Note that when health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. When in doubt concerning fast and abstinence, the parish priest should be consulted. Fasting, almsgiving, and prayer are the three traditional disciplines of Lent. The faithful and catechumens should undertake these practices seriously in a spirit of penance and of preparation for Baptism or of renewal of Baptism at Easter. (Code of Canon Law, 1249‐1252). CRS RICE BOWL Hunger is the world’s number one health risk. It kills more people every year than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.
