April is Volunteer Month!
Volunteers span
all age groups, and
senior volunteers
are becoming more
and more important
to our communities.
There are many ways
in which seniors can
make positive, lasting
differences in the lives
of others by volunteering
your skills and your time.
As a senior, you have an
advantage over younger
volunteers; you have a
lifetime of experience. Take
some time and think of all
of the knowledge you have
obtained throughout the course
of your life; all of the skills you
have honed, the activities you
have developed a passion for, the
lessons you have learned. All of
these things can be used to your
advantage when you volunteer.

April 2015
Often, the best opportunities for
volunteer work are right in your
own backyard. There are many
ways to get involved at your
campus. You can:
Teach a class. /Lead a group.
You have skills. Put them to
good use. If you have a hobby
or a passion that you can share
with other residents, talk to
your Life Enrichment Director
about leading a Life Long
Learning class or other life
enrichment program.
Start a knitting circle.
Not only is this a fun pastime,
but it is also a great way to
help those in need. Check out
organizations such as Knots of
Love or the Hatbox Foundation,
where you can send hand-made
hats to be distributed among
cancer patients. They update
their website regularly with
a list of fun new patterns for
all ages, so you’ll always have
something new to share with
your group. And don’t forget
to take a picture of yourself
with your hats.
Participate in the Campus in
Color gardening competition.
Help your campus bloom this
spring by helping plan and plant
beautiful gardens. You’re not only
beautifying your home, but your
campus could also win a prize!
Feeling up to a challenge?
Ask your Life Enrichment
Director about finding local
volunteer opportunities in
your community.

Volunteer News
Here at River Pointe, we have been
blessed with many volunteers that
selflessly serve our residents day
in and day out. This month we are
spotlighting Alyssa G.! Alyssa is a
junior at the University of Evansville and is majoring in Exercise
Science hoping to obtain her degree and go on to become a Physical Therapist. When asked what
her favorite part of helping out at
River Pointe is, she said, “I really
enjoy helping to encourage the
residents and seeing them participate in all the fun activities!” Thank
you for all you do Alyssa! River
Pointe truly does appreciate you!
Executive Director Corner
Greetings
Everyone!
Can you believe it is April & Spring Already!?
This month is associated with
several significant holidays which
allows for lots of fun and exciting
events here at River Pointe. April
kicks off the day known as “April
Fools” which is always a fun time
for residents and staff to have good
quality humor together. Spring and
April both remind me of a time
for the blossoming of flowers and
sun filling the skies. Each Spring
and Fall kicks off new goals for our
campus. Goal setting is an integral
part of Trilogy’s culture and for
River Pointe to deliver a higher level
of customer service to our residents
and their families. With that, we
would like to sincerely “Thank”
each and everyone for completing/
returning your Customer Satisfaction Survey. Courtney, Brittany & I
will be going to our Spring Meeting
the 16th, 17th & 18th of this month
to find out the results of the survey.
Our Survey results are such an important tool for staff to celebrate
our successes and work on our
opportunities for improvement.
Spring is best known for Good
Friday Passover & Easter. Easter
is a great time to see and visit with
your family, make plans to be
outside, spring cleaning and get
ready for the summer days ahead.
We certainly look forward to the
beautiful flowers blooming here
at River Pointe! We look forward seeing you all at our Sunday
Brunch on April 12th from 111P.M. We will be hosting an
Easter Egg Hunt for the kids!

Out & About
In our “servants heart” activity that
takes places twice a month, the residents made lots of goodies for the
local Gilda’s Club here in Evansville! It filled our hearts with joy
to be able to bless others in need!
*Gilda’s Club, an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community, is named after the late
comedian Gilda Radner, who did of ovarian cancer in 1989. Gilda’s dream was to create
places where people living with cancer, as well as their families and friends, could gather
and have access to the same support. Gilda’s Club offers a life-enriching program in a
non-residential, hoom like setting with FREE support groups, lectures, workshops and
socials events held for individuals and their families facing all types of cancer. To learn
more visit www.gcevv.com.
Themed Dinner: Wizard of Oz
Our Wizard of Oz Theme Dinner was possibly the best one yet! With a week full
of themed activities and special entertainment, there was never a dull moment!
We “followed the Yellow Brick Road” one day that included trivia as we traveled
throughout the building gaining courage, brains and heart! To top it off we ended
the road with a beautiful rainbow! Fun was had by ALL! Nearing the end of the
week the River Pointe staff all dressed in their favorite Wizard of Oz character as we
served our residents a very special dinner! We ended out the week with an “Emerald
City” happy hour with music and delicious “Over the Rainbow” cupcakes!
