• Cesario Estrada Chávez was born March 31,
1927 in Yuma, Arizona.
• 1948 completed 8th grade, last year of formal
schooling.
• Farm worker, labor leader, and civil rights
activist who, with Dolores Huerta Co-founded
the National Farm Workers Association, which
later became the United Farm Workers
• Born in 1930, New Mexico.
• She is a feminist, activist, and organizer.

• César Chavez's birthday, March 31, is celebrated in California and
other states as a holiday, intended to promote service to the
community in honor of Chávez's life and work.
• Many parks, cultural centers, libraries, schools, and streets
have been named in his honor in cities across the United
States.

Delano to Sacramento.
